Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono Promote Meat Free Mondays

I'm sure some people will comply.  Unfortunately, other animals are still eating each other.  I guess they didn't get the memo.  Maybe we need to have PETA hang out with the lions and sharks?

Meanwhile, Ono also plans to meet up with Heather Mills and celebrate "Thank God For Money From Our Men Thursdays."

Angry State Legislators Protesting Mormon Churches

Angry California legislators are taking to the streets today to protest the passage of Proposition 1F, which bans legislator pay raises during budget deficits.  A large group is forming outside of a local Mormon church.

"I don’t understand how we can subject civil rights to a popular vote," said Assembly Speaker Karen Bass (D) of District 47.  'Our rights have been taken away!"

The measure passed easily, despite millions of dollars provided by teacher unions to fight against it.

Some protestors said that they will urge boycotts of any businesses where any of the employees or owners contributed to the "Yes on 1F" campaign.  Supporters of Prop 1F are already reporting harassing phone calls and e-mails.  Protestors are loudly chanting outside of Rick Warren's Saddleback Church.

But lawmakers have little sympathy for those complaining that they are being punished for their support of the bans.  "Work is work," said State Senator Darrell Steinberg (D), of District 6. "This just hurts our families.  I don't support violence, but yes, they should be made to feel uncomfortable."

Some protestors held up signs that said "Shall we vote on your pay raises now?" and "Nobody takes my rights away!" and "They used to not pay African Americans, too!"

"I've had several friends get pay raises over the last couple of years, and yet I am denied that same right," said Bass.

Lameduh Legal, a legislator rights organization, is appealing to the California Supreme Court.  Parents and Friends of Legislators And Government workers (PFLAG) plans on running television spots, in conjunction with Equalpay California, featuring parents of legislators who "just want our children to have the same opportunities to get pay raises we had."

"Pay raises for legislators during deficits are inevitable," said San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, handing out checks to state lawmakers on the steps of San Francisco City Hall.  "It's gonna happen, whether ya like it or not!”

Barkley Angling For His Own Reality Show?

Some thoughts on the passing parade, with apologies to an awesome Townhall columnist.

Is Charles Barkley positioning himself for a reality show, especially on E!?

Speaking of E!, I read this, and I have to wonder - why bother with tradition?

I mean really... you've been shacking up with a dude old enough to be your grandfather and sharing him with two other women on a regular basis who have also been shacking up with him, and who knows how many other other women who don't live with you... AND putting it on TV, and you bother with traditions like engagement rings?!?  Oh, I see - traditions matter only when they materially enrich you.

Speaking of marriage...when this happens, I think the end is near for a relationship.

I mean, why get married after so long?  When people their ages have been together for years without being married, and then go ahead and get married, I really do think it signals the end, like the marriage is some desperate attempt to make a declining relationship better.

Meanwhile, Amy Winehouse is running out of time to take her rightful fulfillment spot this year's Dead Pool.  Please get that woman onto Dr. Drew's show.  He can devote and entire seasons to her alone - nay, an entire series.

Dick Cheney Undermining Obama

In a devious and calculated scheme, Vice President Dick Cheney is working to undermine President-elect Obama.
"I must say, I think it's a pretty good team," Cheney said of Obama's national security choices, in a segment of the interview broadcast Tuesday on "Good Morning America."
See?!?  Cheney knows full well that if he says something good about someone or something, there’s a huge segment of the Left that will automatically hate or oppose those people or things.  He’s deliberately trying to diminish the political capital Obama has with the Left.

Well done, Mr. VP.

Whitney Houston Denies Reunion With Bobby Brown

She was never able to forgive him after coming home to catch him beating another woman.

I'd say that this news is the strongest indication that she is sober.  It was always painful to see such a talented woman choose to subject herself to so much pain.

Study: Poverty Hurts the Poor

The authors of a new study are calling for reform after concluding that poverty hurts the poor.

“Our studies show that the poor are less likely to obtain higher educational degrees, less likely to own their own homes, less likely to live in expensive neighborhoods, less likely to drive nice and new cars, and less likely to retire early,” said Garry Smith of Socialists United for Conscience and Kindness.  “They are also less likely to have high paying jobs, less likely to take expensive vacations, and less likely to have large bank accounts.”

The study found that there are hundreds of millions of Americans who have less money than someone else.

Smith is currently working on a study to determine why sick and injured people tend to use hospitals more than healthy and fit people, and will subsequently conduct a study to determine why people in prison tend to be criminals.

CodePink Faces Tough Odds For Public’s Attention

So says an Associated Press story featured prominently on Yahoo! News.  What’s next – an article on how the Associated Press is underreporting on CodePink?

These people should go protest outside terrorist camps.
“You can't be green and be pro-war," said co-founder Benjamin. "In general, both parties have kept us down this militaristic path and neglected our basic needs."
Hey, genius!  You are responsible for meeting your own basic needs.  The federal government is supposed to protect us from foreign enemies, using force if necessary.
